Malaga Cathedral



The Holy Cathedral Church of the Incarnation is the Cathedral of Málaga (Spain), one of the most valuable jewels Renaissance Andalucia. Is within the bounds of the defunct Arab wall, forming a large architectural complex with the Citadel and Castle next Gibralfaro. It was built between 1528 and 1782, according to plans by Diego of Siloé.


The interior is Renaissance. The basilica, rectangular, has three naves, the middle one being of greater width than the side, all of equal height, 41.79 meters. The choir stalls, designed by Pedro de Mena, is a true work of art. Its facade, by contrast, is a baroque style and is divided into two floors. On the ground floor there are three arches and within these, doors separated by marble columns. Over the doors there are medallions.


The side doors represent employers in Malaga, San Ciriaco and Santa Paula, while the center represents the Annunciation of the Lord. The Cathedral Church of the Incarnation of Malaga began to build in the year 1528 on the old mosque in the Islamic city existing at the time of its conquest by the Catholic Kings, back in 1487. The construction of the Cathedral of Malaga extended from the year 1528 to 1782, sowe can say that we must locate temporarily in the XVI, XVII and XVIII.
